At The Jaime Elaine Creative, we love bringing memories to life through art!
My name is Jaime, and I am a Chicago-based, multifaceted artist. I have a passion for capturing special moments and sharing creativity and expression through my paintings! Since I began painting seriously in 2020, I have always been drawn to the movement, variation, depth, and sentimentality of flowers. Flowers have a language of their own, and I have built my business off of capturing meaningful florals in my paintings.
My goal is to use my art to provide my collectors and clients with a unique and hyper-personalized experience for their event.
Whether you decide to hire me for Live Painting, to guide a painting workshop, to create decor and design elements for your event, to commission a custom piece of art (I paint bouquets, pets, homes, abstracts–I love creating custom work for my collectors!), or as a vendor to sell my art at your event, I love working with collectors and clients to brainstorm the most meaningful ways we can use my art to bring joy and a truly one-of-a-kind experience to you and your guests!
Sharing art with friends and creating something beautiful together is one of my favorite ways to connect with others. I can’t wait to chat with you about what ways my art can enhance your experience!
Staying Sustainable
My sustainable practices include, but are not limited to, the following:
Homemade paper: I make some of my own paper out of egg cartons, cardboard boxes, and junk mail.
Paperless contracts and invoices: I do all contracts, invoicing, etc via email or other electronic method to save on paper waste.
Recycling: Any paper products that cannot be made into homemade paper gets either reused, composted, or recycled.
Composting: I work from home and use WasteNot Composting to sustainably dispose of all food scraps and organic materials including qualifying paper products and commercially compostable materials.
Shipping materials: I use exclusively recycled and reused packaging to wrap and ship paintings.
Leftover paint: I let any leftover paint on my palette dry so I can peel it off instead of washing wet acrylic paint down the sink. I also try to wipe off my brushes on a towel before rinsing them to reduce the paint that gets into the water.
Other efforts I am beginning to implement or working toward are:
Energy efficient lighting. I already use many energy efficient bulbs in my home, and I am working on inventorying and verifying this, as some remain from the previous owner. Meanwhile, I do my best to always turn the lights off when I leave any room.
Stretching more of my own canvases. This year, I am planning to stretch more and more of my own canvases to avoid pre-stretched canvases which are typically wrapped in plastic.
Commercially compostable protective packaging. Until last year, I have protected my watercolor art, cards, and prints using plastic sleeves. However, I recently found a compostable cellulose version of this product and am in the process of transitioning to that product exclusively.
Paint water reuse. I have been experimenting with trying to filter the paint out of my paint water. While my system is quite imperfect, it’s better than nothing! It allows me to reuse my paint water a little longer.
